Title:The surgical management of leprosy ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; jan. 1973. 9 p. ilus.
Abstract:Leprosy is a disease which has traditionally been managed in isolation. There is no justification for the continuance of such a policy, and one of the results of the integration of leprosy in a general hospital service is that the general surgeon will sooner or later be confronted with aspects of leprosy which call for his services.(AU).

Title:Metatarsal head pressure (M. H. P.) sores in leprosy patients ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; oct. 1981. 6 p. ilus, tab.
Abstract:Excision of head and neck of the corresponding metatarsal bone for M.H.P. sore cases was done in 43 patients both in dorsal and plantar approach and the effect of this operation has been evaluated after follow up for more than 1 year. The result of this operation was extremely satisfactory.(AU).

Title:Surgical treatment of plantar ulcers in leprosy ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; 1986. 4 p. tab.
Abstract:Plantar ulcers present a serious problem in the management of leprosy. After studying the mechanism of ulceration and the causes of their indolence, it appears that the treatment of the disease by antileprotic drugs is not sufficient. The underlying causes, such as anaesthesia, bony deformities and paralysis, should usually be treated by surgical means. Anaesthesia can be reversed by decompression of the posterior tibial nerve if this is done early. Deformities should be corrected by procedures on the soft tissues or bones, and chronic infection eradicated to prevent recurrence of the ulceration. A combination of procedures may sometimes be needed.(AU).

Title:Cauliflower growths in neuropathic plantar ulcers in leprosy patients ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; jan. 1971. 10 p. ilus, tab.
Abstract:A clinical and histhopatological review of thirteen cases of cauliflower growths occurring in neurophatic plantar ulcers in leprosy patients is presented. The majority of these lesions were found to be psuedo-epitheliomatous hyperplasias although a considerable number showed atypical histological features. Conservative surgical treatment by deep but limited local excision is advocated.(AU).

Title:Acro-ostéolyses au cours de la lèpre. A propos de 19 observations personnelles ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; feb. 1982. 10 p. ilus, tab.
Abstract:Using their own personal series of 19 cases of leprosy complicated by massive osteolysis (AO), along with a comparison of these cases with data from previously published reports, the authors review the principal clinical and radiological findings of these manifestations which are not observed except in cases of leprosy where neuropathy is present, even though other factors (perforating plantar ulcers, poor hygiene, traumatisms) may play a contributing role independent of possible interference from non specific osteoarthritis or Hansen's bacilla, itself. After reviewing other causes of massive osteolysis and discussing the pathogeny of these manifestations during leprosy, the authors refer to the various therapies which can prevent or stabilize osteolysis or aid the patient to better tolerate its manifestations.
